Rolling StoneBy now most people have heard — or heard about — Justin Bieber’s comment on why he would never become a US citizen.

“You guys are evil,” he jokes. “Canada’s the best country in the world.” He adds, “We go to the doctor and we don’t need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you’re broke because of medical bills. My bodyguard’s baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby’s premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home.”

I am not in JB’s demographic. Until I heard this comment, I had thought of “Justin Bieber” as a name, not a person. Now, I will always think of him with respect.

While searching for this quote, I saw that he’s been made to apologize for telling the truth — which only goes to prove his original point: You guys are evil.

We didn’t used to be.

I wonder if we’ll purge the evil in my lifetime. We’ve done it before. It could happen.
